About Sakura

A Japanese discipline, practiced in Egypt.

Sakura began with a simple observation: Egypt has excellent spas, and almost none of them treat the scalp as anything more than a step on the way to a haircut.

Why Japanese

The difference is the method

In Japan it is its own field. Therapists train in it specifically. There are instruments for it, a sequence to it, and a way of measuring whether it worked. We thought the country was ready for the real version.

A Japanese head spa is not a scalp massage. It is a sequence performed in an order that matters, with water temperature and pressure held deliberately within a narrow range.

The assessment comes first because scalps differ more than faces do. A therapist who skips the reading is guessing.

What people notice afterwards is rarely their hair. It is that they slept properly, or that the headache they had carried for three days is gone.

The method

Five stages, always in this order

Every head spa at Sakura follows the same sequence. What changes is the pressure, the products and the time, decided by what the reading finds.
  1. 01

    Assessment

A magnified reading of the scalp: oil, follicles, and where the tension sits. It decides the next fifty minutes.

  2. 02

    Cleansing

Build-up lifted gently, with products chosen for what the reading showed rather than for everyone.

  3. 03

    Circulation

Slow pressure through the scalp, temples and the base of the skull, held within a narrow, deliberate range.

  4. 04

    Drainage

Down through the neck and shoulders, where the scalp’s tension usually ends up, then the warm cascade.

  5. 05

    Rest

The quiet room, tea, and as long as you want. The part most people remember the next day.

Our standards

Clean, private, and unhurried

We are deliberate about three things, because our guests tell us these are the three that decide where they return.
  • Hygiene

Linens changed in front of you. Single-use items opened in front of you. Rooms and instruments cleaned to a written protocol between every guest, not between every few.

  • Privacy

Your room is yours for the hour. The door locks. Nobody enters without knocking and waiting. We do not take photographs, and we do not ask you to.

  • Time

Sixty minutes means sixty minutes of treatment. The consultation, the changing, the tea afterwards: none of it is taken out of your hour.

Our therapists

Who will treat you

Our therapists come from Japan, Thailand, the Philippines and Egypt, and each is certified in the tradition they practice. Several trained in head spa technique in Tokyo and continue to train on it.

What that means in the room is consistency. The pressure you asked for last time is on your file. The therapist you liked is bookable by name.

An hour is enough to understand what we mean by a Japanese head spa. Book one, or ask us anything first.
